A Tribute to Bob Dunsire

Bob Dunsire, creator of the Bagpipe Web Directory and BobDunsire.com's bagpiping forums passed away in early November 2006. Bob left in his wake a lot of people whose lives were touched in some way by his creations. Here you will find some tributes to Bob's memory.

Some Tunes by Gord MacDonald

Below are a couple of tunes composed and recorded by Gord MacDonald, of Nanaimo, British Columbia, in honor of Bob.

The tunes have been edited and transcribed to abc notation by Eric Mrozek of Southern California. The PDF files below were generated by Eric.

A Tune by Ian Lawther

Ian Lawther, of Sammamish, Washington, a moderator at BobDunsire.com, wrote and recorded this Northumbrian pipes tune and, in his own words, "(unimaginatively) simply called Bob Dunsire."

Bob Dunsire by Ian Lawther (MP3)

The above tune will not work within the Great Highland Bagpipe scale.

A Tune by David Siegel

David Siegel, the pipe major of The Israel Pipes & Drums, composed this slow air, "Camano Island in the Sea," named after the location of Bob's home in Washington State, U.S.A. The tunes were processed from Bagpipe Music Writer files to abc notation by Phil Lenihan of Cupertino, California then revised by myself.
